Newsletter December 2007
First off a big thank you to all the members who attended the AGM this year, your thoughts and views are always welcome and are important in shaping the clubs future.
We had a cracking series of work parties on Cotton Moss this year and again this is down to you, the members, so once again a big thank you.
Next year we will be concentrating most of our efforts on the Baddiley waters and with your help will be improving swims and access on both lakes in the spring months. We have already moved some 20lb plus fish via a section 30 into the Mere. We also have another source of Carp that we will be introducing into the Mere, hopefully toward the end of this year they are again, “English” strain, sizes from a few pounds to mid double. The stocking of the Reservoir last spring from The Plex seems to have been a great success with many multiple catches being reported. The fish also seem to have spawned successfully with one or two very small carp coming through. If we can develop these waters to the same standards as the Cotton waters, the future of the Society will be very bright.
After seeking advice the weed was treated with great success on Cotton Moss and we will be following the same course this year on The Moss and park. We now have a number of fish over 30lb in the Cotton waters and the back up fish are catching up at a rapid pace. Again the waters future looks healthy with plenty of small carp being caught on float tackle.
Brereton is producing some fantastic 20lb+ Commons to those fishing it. Will all members please ensure they pay the parking fee before fishing and always display your club ticket in your vehicle.
Plex is its usual dependable self producing plenty of carp and one or two big cats to over 40lb !
After consulting the membership at the AGM, the committee have decided NOT to renew the lease in 2008 on Boundary Water Park.
Can we please ask all to be extra vigilant, as we have had one or two reports of non-club members/poachers on the club waters. If you are unsure please ring one of the bailiffs.
We have one or two changes with officers and officials of the club this coming year, Pete has resigned from the position of General Secretary, but will stay as Membership Secretary/Treasurer. Dave Harvey has taken over in this roll. A big thank you to the three Committee members, Graham Marsden, Steve Morris and Garry Lynch who have resigned this year for all the work they have put in over the past years. This has made room for new Committee Members Archie Campbell, Colin Bailey, Tim Gillet and Chris Wynne.
The general trend with the water rents has increased by nearly 20% over the past few years, hence the need for a subscription increase to £150.00 for full paying Members. We will also be introducing an increase of £10 to all Juvenile, Female and Senior Citizens making the subs £20 a year.
Please note the following Rule Changes as passed at the AGM:
1 The maximum stay on any water to be 72 hours with no return for at least 48 hours.
2 Removal of the Membership retainer rule.
3 Any member found to be under the influence of excessive alcohol or drugs, will be expelled from the Society.
Renewals are due from January 1st, and MUST be by post only. (Do not send recorded or special delivery). Please remember to send a SAE 9x6 (Inch’s), together with payment, and ID card, or new passport photo’s to:
Peter Bailey, 7 Marlow Close, Sandbach, Cheshire. CW11 3ZG.
Please keep sending photographs and catch reports to Dave Harvey, they are very valuable to the society.
The committee thanks you for your support, and would like to wish you and your families a Merry Christmas and best wishes for the New Year.
