The Officers, Committee and main Bailiff's of the Society.


 

Ted Howarth is the Society's President and is a founder member of the Society. Ted served on the committee and was Secretary/Treasurer for 30 years.

Ted is an all round angler having fished for Cheshire in his younger days and is an excellant match angler before turning to carp fishing later in life. Ted still enjoys fishing the Society matches every season as well as fishing for all other species. Ted goes fishing every week and still enjoys every minute. The Society would not be where it is today without Ted's forward thinking over the years.

Dave Colclough was elected to the position of Society's Chairman at the A.G.M. on November 2nd 2004.

Dave has served the Society on the committee and as Vice Chairman prior to this, he will also continue his role as Match Secretary.

Dave is an all round angler and has travelled around the UK in search of specimen fish of several species. He organises the Society matches as well as editing the newsletters and providing some of the club stationary. Dave has also been instrumental in setting up the Society web site and assisting the Secretary with other computer related items.

Peter Bailey now holds the position of Membership Secretary.

Peter has been a member of the Society for a number of years and has served on the committee and is now looking forward to more involvement in the running of the Society.

Peter is mainly a carp angler and has done this type of fishing for many years, he fished Farmwood Pool and amongst his captures was the fish he is seen holding, the original Leather at a weight of 28lb 12oz caught in 1996.

Dave is mainly a carp angler nowadays, but does enjoy the odd day session float fishing every now and then, he also fishes for Pike through the Winter months.

Dave mainly fishes the Society waters and does this most weekends for an overnight session or a short evening. When possible Dave travels around fishing one or two of the countries day ticket lakes such as Linear or Selby, he also makes the occasional trip to France.

He has a good knowledge of web site design and enjoys being involved with work parties etc.

Alan Pritchard is a committee member and Bailiff and has served the Society in these roles for a number of years.

Alan is an all round angler enjoying fishing for carp and catfish and also taking part in the Society's matches, he also likes to fish for pike when he gets the chance. Alan loves to fish in France and tries to go at least once a year. Alan welcomes and encourages everyone especially new members and juniors. Alan not only contributes a lot to the meetings but also the work parties every season, with not only work but organisation.

Dave Pritchard is a committee member and Bailiff and has served the Society in these roles for a number of years.

Dave is an all round angler who not only enjoys fishing for the specimens but also enjoys fishing the Society matches. He also enjoys going to France to fish when he gets the opportunity. Dave like all the committee members contributes a lot to the meetings and work parties etc.

Dave Raine was elected onto the committee at the A.G.M. on November 4th 2003.

Dave will still carry on with his Bailiff duties which he has done for several years.

Dave is a carp angler and has caught many good fish from the Society's waters. Dave prefers to fish short regular sessions and his favourite waters are Brereton and Plex. Dave was involved a lot from the start of stocking the Cotton lakes when we acquired them, and contributes a lot to the Society with Bailiff duties, work parties and monthly reports to the Secretary.

Colin is primarily a carp angler nowadays but does have the odd pike session in the colder months. Colin fishes the Society waters along with those of other regional clubs. The yearly trip to France is a certainty. Wherever he travels in the world, space is always made in his case for his six piece ‘Tourist’ rod and a packet of ‘shelf-lifes’ so a wet line is never too far away!

Currently busy with a degree at the University of Manchester and the new owner of a young Labrador, most of his fishing is short session / overnight.

Stephen Cooper is the Society Head Bailiff and has served the Society in this role for a number of years.

Stephen is an all round angler enjoying not only carp fishing but also he enjoys float fishing especially for crucian's and he has caught many good fish from the Society waters. Stephen also likes to fish in France and has also been to India after the Mahseer in 2002. Stephen contributes a lot to the Society not only with Bailiff duties but also at work parties and assisting the Secretary with work party related items and general work around the lakes and has been involved a lot with the stocking of the Cotton lakes.

Tim Gillet Joined the Committee in 2007, Tim is a keen Carp angler and has been fishing locally for over 30 years. He mainly fishes short session and likes to maximise his time. Tim is of the old school and takes great pleasue in rolling and using his own baits.

Simon Merner Joined the Committee in 2006 with a view to giving back something to the Club that he first joined as a juvenile over 30 years ago. He first started Carp fishing in the early 80's and in this time has caught some fantastic fish. He likes to fish the Club waters during the winter months choosing to fish further afield in the Summer months.

Simon spends a lot of time on the Club waters fishing with his Children and his young Nephew and is keen to encourage a strong Juvenile membership.

Chris Wynne is a life long angler who nowdays likes to fish for both Carp and Cats. Chris has been a Balliff for a number of years on the club waters and is currently studying on a Fishery management course at Manchester University.

This year Chris is planning to spend most of his time on the Baddiley waters fishing for the Carp and is keen to see some of the quality fish on the bank. Chris has had personal best Carp of 27lb 6oz and Catfish of 32lb 4oz (pictured) from the club waters in recent years.

Shane Cooper has been on the Committee since 2007 and enjoys fishing for various species. In the Summer months his favorite method is stalking and float fishing for Carp. Shane is lucky in that he tends to fish mainly mid week session on Brereton or the Cotton lakes.

In the winter months Shane likes to fish for Pike with sessions on Brereton and Baddiley Mere.

Rob Laws is 39yrs old and has been actively carp fishing for 26yrs of that. He has fished all over the country in search of carp and have had a fair bit of success at quite a few waters. Rob is passionate about retaining the heritage of our english fish and have been a member of ECHO (English carp heritage organisation) since their beginning. Fishing on the Continent is something Rob enjoys and he has fished such waters as lac de vassiviere, the river lot and rainbow lake. Rob loves BIG waters and by that he mean ones with a surface area running into thousands of acres rather than hundreds! His latest adventure is to a little known water in the atlas mountains which is approx 7000 acres!
