Wheelock Angling Society – Introduction and Aims Wheelock AS was first formed in 1948, we are still a fairly small club in membership size however we aim to provide some of the best Specimen fishing in the North West of England, with Carp to mid 30’s, Catfish over 40lb along with double figure Tench and Bream. We also have a thriving Specimen Crucian Carp population in the Plex Flash. A couple of the lakes, Brereton and Baddiley Mere contain specimen Pike to over 20lb. So as you can see we cater for anglers who like to fish for bigger specimens. We also have a Match series that is run every year for those who enjoy the competitive side. All of the Wheelock AS waters contain specimen carp to over 20lb, this gives the Members a great range of Carp fishing. As a forward thinking club we are always on the look out for new waters to run and stock. The newest lakes we have acquired as a club are over at Baddiley and include an ancient Mere and an old Reservoir. These two lakes already have stocks of fish that have seen little pressure in recent years, however we have topped up the stocks with prime English Carp of various strains but mainly made up of the famous Fishers Pond strain of carp that we are sure will thrive. The last time the club stocked any of these fish was over at the clubs Cotton lakes and one of these fish is now into the mid 30’s!!! Due to demand for membership of Wheelock AS we have to operate a waiting list for new members, however please don’t be put off by this. If you fancy fishing some superb secure private lakes for beautiful specimen fish then contact the Membership secretary, details on the site, and your name will be added to the waiting list.
