AS was first formed in 1948, we are still a fairly small club in
membership size however we aim to provide some of the best Specimen
fishing in North West of England, with Carp to mid 30’s, Catfish over
40lb along with double figure Tench and Bream. We also have a thriving
Specimen Crucian Carp population in the Plex Flash.
A couple of the lakes, Brereton, Baddiley Mere and Lawton Hall contain specimen Pike to over 20lb. So as you can see we cater for anglers who like to fish for bigger specimens.
Our two lakes over at Baddiley and include an ancient Mere and an old Reservoir.
These two lakes already have stocks of fish that have seen little
pressure in recent years, however we have topped up the stocks with
prime English Carp of various strains but mainly made up of the famous
Fishers Pond strain of carp. In 2012 we had two confirmed 30lb carp reported with numerous 25lb + mirrors and common captures.
The last time
the club stocked any of these fish was over at the clubs Cotton lakes
and Baddiley some of these fish are now into the mid 30’s!!!
2013 has been a great year for the club acquiring two new waters Lawton and The Moat both of these waters are very well established with an abundance of natural food we are confident with our planned stocking and management policy these will provide some of the best
specimen waters in the North West.
All of the Wheelock AS waters contain specimen carp to
over 20lb, this gives the Members a great range of Carp fishing. As a
forward thinking club we are always
the look out for new waters to run and stock.
